Overview

Townie: A person who has lived in a small town for his or her entire life. Often proud of that fact, townies take great interest in every detail of change in their home turf. Especially in the northeast, Massachusetts is full of small seas side towns and villages full of proud lifelong residents.

Following this small town spirit, and the project brief: to create a body typeface for the city of Boston; townie has been designed with the idea of embracing the small details. Each letter breaks small rules enough to remain cohesive but when paired together make each word unlike the next.

To coincide with the typeface I ventured to some of these small towns and created photo zine utilizing the newly produced type.
